You Have a Superpower: Use it

What I’m talking about here is the magic of support. It’s one of the six forms of energy that we need to use in order to be successful. I’ll be writing all about it in another edition. I just wanted to give a shout-out here to my buddies.

Let’s look right now at what your Superpower entails, as well as one way you can use it to create what you love. I mentioned it in the last newsletter.

The name of that Superpower is: Being Willing.

In the last article, we looked at the famous Dag Hammarskjold quote:

“For all that has been, Thank you.

For all that is to come, Yes!”

Let’s look again at our ability to say “Yes” to whatever happens in life. That’s at the heart of Being Willing. We can be willing to do what we don’t know how to do. We can be willing to do what we think we can’t do. Your ability to “be willing” is Your Superpower. You can apply it to any number of situations. For example, you can create what I call a True Affirmation! Let me show you how.

One definition of an affirmation is: “Something declared to be true.” “The sky is blue,” or “the grass here is green” are forms of affirmation. They are pointing to something that really exists, here-and-now.

This gets a little tricky when we declare something to be true when it really isn’t.

For example, you may have heard the affirmation “I am financially successful.” It’s clear that this is a wish, but is it an affirmation?

Right now, say this to yourself: “I am financially successful.” Go ahead! What does your mind say? Do you hear a “yes” there? Or do you hear something like:

I wish I were!
No, not yet.
Who am I kidding?
No, I’m not!

That’s the mind’s reaction to something you’re trying to tell yourself is true when it really isn’t.

Now, say the following: “ I am willing to be financially successful.” What do you hear? You might not hear anything. You might notice that your body is relaxing. That’s because you have just used “ I am willing” to create a very powerful, truthful, affirmation!

I’m capitalizing the words Being Willing right now to denote how powerful this skill set is. I remember one woman who put it this way:

Tracy: I’ve had “I am” statements without the “willing” part to create affirmations for years! I never knew why looking at them made me so nervous! Here I had at least eight 3×5 inch cards with what I thought were affirmations, like “ I am rich” or “I am in the best physical shape ever” or “I am a successful manager” without the simple “willing” word! I tore up those cards. I instantly felt calmer! Can you imagine? Are affirmation cards making me feel worse? Then I put “I am willing to be” in front of all of those statements and, Boom! I feel great! I’m moving forward!

For the next 10 days, create three “I am willing to be” statements, like:

  • I am willing to be financially successful
  • I am willing to be physically fit and healthy
  • I am willing to be a successful entrepreneur
  • I am willing to be a loving family member

Put the three that you created (feel free to use any of the above ones) on three 3×5 cards.

Put them where you can see them for a few minutes in the morning and again in the evening. The bathroom mirror, for example.

Just read them to yourself, five repetitions of each affirmation, and see what happens!

Do you notice an opening or opportunities or possibilities?

Let me know!

Wishing you all my best,

Academy Update:

Last year, we launched a new scholarship program to demonstrate our commitment to a world where everyone is supported 100% and no one is left out.

The purpose of this fund is to invest in the diversity, equity, and inclusivity of our growing coaching community.

As a result of the program, we’ve seen some extraordinary people come through our courses who would not have otherwise been able to. Last year we received $32,500 in private contributions and gave out 75 diversity scholarships for our programs.

To hear directly from a few of our inspiring scholarship recipients, please watch this short and very sweet video.
